Connecting our elders and kaumātua with kind cooks, good company and helpful hands.
We believe in bringing people together to share a meal
Social isolation is a problem across New Zealand and we’re hoping to start a movement to look out for each other and connect. The concept is simple:
Cook a meal and share it with an elder or kaumātua in your community.
We encourage you to connect with your neighbours, kaumātua or elders in your community. For some, a cup of tea and a chat is enough. If you need a hand finding someone to connect with, we will do our best to connect you. To grow the goodness and encourage others, share your experiences (with consent) on your social channels with the hashtags: #DinnerTogetherNZ or #KaumatuaKai
Once you’ve had your first meeting, perhaps you’d like to make it a regular thing. Or you might be able to help your new friend with something they need a hand with. It all starts with a meal or a cuppa and a chat.
